If you were approved for a federal tax extension, the State of Indiana will automatically grant you a tax extension until November 15, 2010. You can submit Form IT-9 (PDF) to extend your tax deadline to June 15, 2010 if you don't have a valid federal tax extension. If you need to make a tax payment, you'll need to submit Indiana Form IT-9 --whether you have an accepted federal tax extension or not.

Filing for a Indiana tax extension will not grant you more time to pay any tax balance due. Your balance must be paid by April 15 to avoid possible penalties.

If you already received an approval notification from ExpressExtension, and you don't need to make a tax payment, then you're all done.

The State of Indiana will automatically grant you a 6-month business income tax extension. However, you will need to submit Indiana tax extension form if you need to make a state tax payment. If you do not need to make a tax payment and have received an approval notification from ExpressExtension, there’s nothing more to do.

Filing an Indiana tax extension will not provide you with additional time to pay any tax balance due, which must be paid by your original filing deadline or interest and other payment penalties may apply.
